For hundred's of years, the backbone of rural america has been the country woman! (The farmer's wife). When farming got tough, it was the country woman, who got going! She was always ever supportive of her husband the farmer.
Farm men, and their wives and children worked hard to make a living. Sometimes the children were doing farm chores, by the time they were 4 or 5 years old. And country women have always been known for keeping a full pantry. With the bountiful harvests from the gardens they tended all summer long. And country farm wive's, were always in the kitchen cooking, when not helping in the barn, and fields. Country women have shared recipes for generations, and this is part of why I'm building this site. (TO KEEP THIS TRADITION ALIVE!!)
When I was growing up on the farm. At field harvest time in the summer and late fall. Neighbors watched out for each other, alot of times they took turns going to each others farms to help bring in crops from the fields. They put in long hard days, and didn't quit till it was time to go milk cows. And if they were pushed for time, the farm wives, and the children would do the chores, and the milking.
I learned to cook at an early age, my mom, and my grandma, who also lived on the farm with us. Along with the other neighbors wives, would get together in the mornings to prepare food for the field hands. Sometimes they would come back to the house to eat. And other times we would all take the food out to the fields when they were pushed for time due to inclimate weather.
The women would prepare full meals, 3 times a day. Meat, potatoes, salads, desserts, and what I loved the best was the homemade breads, and pies:)

I have been tyring to get this site up for awhile now. But was to busy working outside the home. But am now taking a leave-of-absence from my occupation in the healthcare field of 25+ years, and intend on devoting alot more time getting this up and running. I found an awesome hosting company that I'm using to help me be able to manage this site. I will have a link to them giving them credit for me to be able to do this site. And if anyone is interested in starting their own website, i.e. maybe builing a geneology site for your family tree! Or starting your own recipe site. I am able to write my text, and upload images to my site due to using a site, manager, and page editor. I'm having lots of fun with it too:)
Me being a greenhorn on computer savyiness, find it very easy to use their manager, editor. They have good technical support, via email any questions I have are answered almost A.S.A.P:) which I like very much by the way. My hosting company is: e-commerce-xhtml.com which is also at the bottom of my page. If you place your mouse over the text, it will give you the link.
So everyone out there! Dig out those long buried away recipe boxes, from years gone by, and lets reminisce:)
